Preventing data loss

  • Do not make any changes to files, folders, and records that are included in a synchronization until the synchronization is complete.

1. Synchronize data using the current configuration settings.

2. Change synchronization settings.

3. Synchronize data using the new settings before making any changes to data on either system.

  • If text fields of a different size are mapped, data may be truncated in the target field if the source data is too long. To preserve data on the source system, do not edit the truncated record. If you do edit the truncated record, the record in the source system is also truncated after the next synchronization.

Contacts

To avoid potential data conflicts, use a value in the Last Name field in all contact records. For example, use the company name or the first name of the contact.

Field values

If a field value is not supported in the device, the closest matching value is used. For example, alarms, task priorities, or importance levels may be changed.

Date range

  • Previously synchronized records that are now outside the specified date range are synchronized once but they are not included in the next synchronization.

  • If any occurrence of a non-fanned repeating record occurs within the date range, all occurrences are transferred.

  • The Transfer only Future Items setting uses the date, not the time. Appointments that occurred earlier on the current day are not excluded.

Filters

  • If you use a dynamic field value in a filter (such as Today), if the value of the field is different than it was during the last synchronization, a full synchronization is performed.

  • If you change a record that was last synchronized with a filter and the change makes it fall out of the filtering range, the record on the device is deleted during the next synchronization. To restore the record, perform a synchronization without the filter.

  • Records that have been excluded from a previous synchronization because they did not meet the filter criteria are deleted from the device during the next synchronization.

  • If you change the status of a previously synchronized record to Private, and then use the Exclude Private Data filter, the record is deleted from the PIM.

Duplicate records

  • If key fields contain the same information, but use a different letter case (for example, John and john, the records are not matched and each record is transferred to the device.

  • Duplicate records may be created if you change the operation type (synchronize, one way sync to, or one way sync from) for data that has been transferred by Intellisync.

  • When information is one way synced to or one way synced from, if a record already exists on the target system the record is not duplicated. Instead, the selected conflict resolution setting is applied if a data conflict exists. When the selected conflict resolution is applied, records on the source system may be added, changed, or deleted.

Third-party connectors

Intellisync does not provide customer support for third-party Intellisync Connectors. Supported third-party Intellisync Connectors have vendor name and contact information in the online Help topic for the supported system. Contact the Intellisync Connector vendor for customer support.
