Synchronizing repeating records

If the repeat pattern for a repeating record is supported on both systems, the record is transferred as a repeating record.

Because PIMs and devices differ in how repeating records that span multiple days are treated, Intellisync recommends that you synchronize only single-day repeating records.

When one occurrence of a repeating record is changed or deleted, an exclusion is created for that occurrence. The original record is changed to exclude the occurrence and a new record for the changed occurrence is created. If you later update the recurring record, the excluded record is not updated.

Unsupported repeat patterns

To ensure maximum data integrity, synchronize repeating records only if the repeat pattern is supported in both applications. If the target does not support the repeat pattern, the repeating item is fanned. In some cases, dates may shift when the record is transferred.

  • For events and tasks, the number of fanned records is based on the maximum fanning limits, the date range, and device or application limitations. If the number of fanned records exceeds the limit, past instances are not transferred.
