Novell GroupWise Troubleshooting

Changing GroupWise login

If you change your GroupWise login, you must reconfigure each section you want to synchronize with GroupWise before synchronizing data. GroupWise Login information must be entered in the Intellisync GroupWise Options dialog. See Specifying Novell GroupWise synchronization options for more information.

Remote databases

If the date range used to create a remote database is narrower than the date range assigned in Intellisync, you may experience unexpected data deletion.

Recurring Appointments

If an appointment is changed to start in the past, the date change will not be synchronized when the Transfer only future items option is enabled. To transfer the change, synchronize again with both the Transfer all items and Confirmation options enabled. Accept the Change flag to transfer all past and future occurrences of the appointment.

Alarm Synchronization

  • Clear hours and minutes when clearing an alarm.

  • Days, hours, or minutes set to “0″ are not synchronized.

  • Alarms that occur in the past are not synchronized.

Trailing commas

After synchronization with the device, GroupWise adds a comma in the recipient field. Synchronization is not affected.

Error message appears during Contacts configuration

You must open GroupWise and create at least one record before configuring the Contacts section.

Synchronization connection issues

If you have issues when synchronizing with GroupWise, connect directly or by TCP. For information about your current connection, open GroupWise and select Help/About GroupWise from the menu bar.

To connect directly

  1. Create a GroupWise shortcut icon on your desktop.

  2. Right-click the Shortcut icon. Select Properties.

  3. In the Properties dialog box, click the Shortcut tab. Add the following string to the target field:

<Install directory>Novell\GroupWise\GRPWISE.EXE /ph-z:\dir\postofficedirectory.

Where <Install directory> is the GroupWise installation directory, the letter z is the drive where your post office directory is located on the server, and postofficedirectory is the name of your post office directory.

To connect using TCP

  1. Create a GroupWise shortcut icon on your desktop.

  2. Right-click the Shortcut icon. Select Properties.

  3. In the Properties dialog box, click the Shortcut tab. Add the following string to the target field:

<Install directory> \GRPWISE.EXE /ipa-###.###.##.### /ipp-1677

Where <Install directory> is the GroupWise installation directory and the pound sign(#) represents numbers of the IP address of the server to which you are connecting.

Note: You must include the spaces after the .EXE and the IP address.
