Mapping fields

Intellisync automatically maps most fields that users want to synchronize.

Important! You can change field mapping, but, changing field mapping can have unexpected results. If you change field mapping for data that has already been synchronized, the next synchronization that occurs will be a first-run synchronization, which may cause duplicate records or record changes to occur in one or both of your systems.

  • Back up data before changing field mapping.

  • If possible, use a test file first to determine the results of the changed field mapping.

  • If data has been synchronized, perform a synchronization before changing field mapping.

  • Filtering on unmapped fields is not supported.

To view or modify field mapping

  1. Open the Advanced Settings dialog box and click Field Mapping.

The Field Mapping dialog box opens.

  • Device fields appear in the left column.

  • PIM application fields appear in the right column.

  • Mapped fields are indicated by an arrow in the center column.

  1. To map or un-map fields, click the center column.

  • Fields must be adjacent to map them. To make fields adjacent, click and drag the PIM application field to the new location.

  • Fields that must be mapped are indicated with an asterisk.

  • To preserve data integrity, do not un-map time or date fields.

  • Fields that contain different data types cannot be mapped to each other.

  1. To restore default field mapping, click Reset.

Mapping special fields

  • Fields that contain multiple lines: Different information can be stored on each line. If you do not map each line, you can map extra lines to other fields.

  • Device fields that span more than one line of text: In some cases, you can map the field to two or more fields. For example:

  • Description

    <->

    Description-First Line

    Note

    <->

    Description-Rest of

    Note: Mapping the single device field un-maps these fields and vice versa.
