Notes:

  • When you create a filter, it is automatically applied, but you can select a different filter before closing the Advanced Settings dialog box. Filters are not case-sensitive.

  • If you create a filter, and records that match the filter, and then sync, and then modify the filtered records on the device to not match the filter, and sync again, the modified records are deleted from the device but are synced to the device.

  • If a record is filtered out during a sync, and you sync again without the filter, and then delete the record and sync with the filter selected, the record is deleted from the device.

  • Records that do not match the filter when synced a second time may be deleted.

To create a filter

  1. Open the Advanced settings dialog box and click the Filter button.

  2. To create or edit a filter:

  • For a new filter, click New, type the filter name in the Filter name dialog box, and then click OK.

  • To edit a filter, select filter and click Edit.

The Filter dialog box appears.

  1. On the Conditions tab, click Field, and select the field on which to filter.

  2. From the Operator list, select the operator such as contains or starts with.

  3. In the Value box, enter the value on which to filter.

Note: If you have selected a Boolean operator, such as true or false, the Value field is not used.

For time and date fields:

  • To create a dynamic filter that always uses the current date or time, click the Value button and select Now or Today.

  • To use a fixed Date value, type the date value using the mm/dd/yy format.

  • To use a fixed Time value, type the time value using the 24-hour time format. For example, enter 14:00 instead of 2:00 pm.

  1. Click Add to List.

The condition you created appears in the List of Filter Conditions area.

  1. If you want to use additional conditions, repeat steps 3 – 6.

By default, only records that meet all conditions will be transferred.

  1. To transfer records that meet any of the conditions, click the Rules tab and select the One or more conditions must be met setting.

Tip: Use the is between operator to create conditions such as Last Name is between A and C. This operator is inclusive. In this example, last names that start with A, B, or C will be transferred.
